Thrift or Miss II
Here's the Yoana Baraschi dress purchased at Goodwill for $8.99 that I will wear to Goodwill's annual Power of WorK Luncheon recognizing individual achievements within the Goodwill community. How appropos to wear a thrifted dress.
The dress is silk with grosgrain ribbon pleates. This is one of my favorite dresses EVER and I saved hundreds of dollars.
So when you hit the thrift store doldrums (referenced in the post below), just remember that treasure may only be a rack away. So, it's thrift or miss baby!

I love thrift stores. It sometimes takes some work, but when hit the jackpot it is really worth it.
Beautiful!
Wow - it's fabulous!! What fun. I hit a few great finds today at our GW. Nothing quite like yours, but I am still thrilled. :)
I've hit some amazing finds over the past few years, but that dress is GORGEOUS!!!
My fave was a pair of Seven of All Mankind jeans for $3.99. Almost new, barely worn. Not my size, but they made a lovely Christmas present for my sister :)
I'm growing tired of my typical 3 stores, so plan to start branching out more, especially with $$ being so tight and summer coming.
I just have to keep reminding myself that "just because it's on sale/clearance/cheap/thrift store does NOT mean I have to buy it".
Managed to get a 4 port USB hub for $4, and a car audio tuner to hook my iPod up to, again for $4 just in this past week.
I AM noticing that the prices at the stores are climbing, though - seems they've gotten some new volunteers in that recognize brand and value a little better. My son's This End Up dresser at $9 was a steal, though :)

Yesterday was a great day for - one of those at the GW when I say to myself "this is why I love the GW". Picked up 5 smocked girls dresses size 4T - $3.99 each -- all to sell on eBay where I should make $20+ each!
What a beautiful dress! And you look absolutely stunning in it! You look a million dollars, as if you've spent hundreds! Well done on a fantastic find :)
Gorgeous, SGL!!! You make a fantastic model--so graceful.
Would you let me add it to the Fashion Evolved Fashion Show page?! Or if you have any others you think would be a good addition I'll post those, too.

So cute!!!
I have to agree with the comment made about prices going up in my local GW stores. I too think they have someone on staff that is knowledgeable about branding.
Just yesterday I picked up a cute little bowl that was marked 8.95! Never would I spend that on a small bowl, even brand new. I flipped it over and it was from Williams Sonoma or Pottery Barn, sorry I don't remember. Right next to it was a very similar bowl for .95. It had no brand marked on it. So I knew right there that someone was pricing things accordingly.
This really takes a lot of fun out of thrift shopping for me. I know they want to make money, but hey, it is still used stuff!
I've also noticed WAY more folks shopping at my local thrift stores. I think that with all the neat stuff on the web about re- purposing thrift store items to decorate your home with and great sites like yours that show the fabulous deals you can get there that the market it being swamped with buyers. Oh well, that just makes the discovery of hidden treasures that much more fun!
So, I just did my first thrift store shopping. I got two dresses at Goodwill for $9.00. Then, went to the Salvation Army and got four shirts and two skirts for $11.00. One of the shirts was a Life is Good shirt for only $2.00! I can't wait to go back. I'm hooked.
Great find! Jen
Stunning, as always Amy! I love it, you look Fab, Darling!
LOVE your blog... I just found it through Facebook
now it's wanting me to go bargain thrift shop ....
lately I just bargain shop at The Gap since I work there (I've bought several items for $1-5 for my boys)
That dress is absolutely beautiful!!!
I found a really great pair of work pants the other day priced at $5, which I was pretty happy with.
What a find -- it's gorgeous!
Sometimes, I've had more compliments on my thrift store finds than my retail purchases. It's all about the thrill of the hunt!
PS. We're CO girls too.
